A few others have given you technical descriptions of dpi, linescreens
etc. for arriving at image sizes. But let me throw this in also.
I used to work for an advertising company (promotional products) and
clients could upload art to us. Even though we had very specific
instructions re: format, sizing, dpi etc. we would get MSPublisher
files, Jpgs that were saved at 50% quality, screen captures, (bad)
scans of photos etc. My only point is that you can spec out everything
about the image size and quality, but you will still get some junk. Be
as specific as possible about what type of files you expect and have
someone available via phone to help customers who are not in the
know.
Uploaded files should be in a lossless format, like TIF, and should
have a minimum resolution that you spec out. |
